Breed Specific Legislation (banning the ownership of certain breeds of dogs) is being passed in some areas of the country and fought successfully in others.

<p>Not only are good natured dogs of law abiding citizens in danger of losing a home, there are many cases of mistaken identity. Often, the individuals advocating the law don't even know what the actual breed looks like and dogs with similar coloring or size are in danger of being taken from their homes or euthanized. No one has "papers" on a rescued dog to prove it is a different breed, so they are at the mercy of the eye of the beholder.
