Feather Pluckers(view profile)

I rescued Tweak in May, 2008. I bought her as an anniversary present for my husband. The day I brought Tweak home she was almost too weak to stand on both legs and was not capable of standing on one leg. She had been neglected - left alone for days on end without food or water, in a mobile home with no air conditioning.
She had chewed off most every feather on her body. The only feathers that were intact were on her head and the only reason for that is she was unable to reach them. Her previous owner told me “if somebody would feed and water him everyday and give him a little attention he wouldn’t pull out all his feathers”. I have never wanted to slap somebody more than I did at that moment. Instead, we loaded Tweak into the cat carrier we had brought with us and wrapped a towel around the outside and we headed home. This is Tweak's recovery and life with us!
