Did you know that Alzheimer ' s Disease is the sixth leading cause of death in the United States?... I simply assumed that like President Reagan, people with the disease live to a normal length old age before the end of their lives... Alzheimer ' s Disease is a heartbreaking condition in which a person gradually loses his or her mental faculties... Not until something quite blatant happens like the afflicted person attempting to drive home from work and not remembering the way--having no clue--are there usually signs that a serious condition is present... The Alzheimer ' s Association needs team captains for the annual Alzheimer ' s Memory Walk , the nation ' s largest event to raise awareness and funds for Alzheimer care, support and research... Volunteers of any and all ages and walks of life are needed to support the fight against Alzheimer ' s disease... It does not have to be a huge commitment... Even though the star of "Weeds," Mary-Louise Parker, speaks of the show in the past-tense, Showtime the premium cable network, has announced that Weeds has just received the green light for two more seasons of 13 shows!... The show, which is currently in it ' s fourth season has wrapped filming, so looking ahead to Season Five ..... Nancy can ' t go home again~ Source~ Kristen "She ' s definitely going bigger picture... think this is someone possibly she could imagine a real relationship with, which is something she hasn ' t contemplated since Judah."... I know, having been in it a number of times in my life... Many of us feel awful--guilty and ashamed when we find ourselves in over our heads for a protracted period... The phone rings constantly with bill collectors badgering, stress and worry are constant companions, as is a fear that things will never get better... A number of years ago after having been a divorced mom for eight years, I met someone who I planned to marry after I ' d finished graduate school... I was adamant that I would finish graduate school so I stayed with my son each day, and each evening his dad would come home and I went to classes and then came home tended to him, spent hours studying, got a handful of hours of sleep and got up and did it all over again... By the time I graduated from university I had a lovely Masters degree and was teetering on the edge of bankruptcy... It was a relief for a short time but the damage to our credit record cannot be emphasized enough... Today I drove top down through the countryside in the sweltering sauna that was this part of the world purely for vanity --to get my roots touched up before taking off to go up north... I was working here at the computer when I looked up and out the window, which I admit I do more than I probably should... A silver glint caught my eye... A split second later it was no longer a glint but a street light post toppling over... At the same time a car was driving by and in that second, the street light post and the car made a connection at the point where the back bumper was attached to the car... The car continued on but not far, dozens of feet maybe, lurching over onto the grass, nearly hitting a medium-size tree, and finally with the bumper torn completely off, to a stop on the sidewalk... … View Post »

I find it kind of funny when people say there were not any really great films in the 1980 ' s... I disagree vigorously as some of my all time favourites-just in the Science Fiction category alone, came out in the 1980 ' s... Depending on which genre you were watching films took a leap forward in the 80 ' s in sophistication of filming techniques... As the music video television revolution took place the adding of best-selling motion picture soundtracks also excelled in the 1980 ' s... It isn ' t the best Alien movie in the Alien in the set of four--that occurred in the sequel "Aliens" but it was the most shocking, exhilarating, roller coaster ride of a film that I ' d seen until that point... Coincidently, the star of Ferris , Matthew Broderick stars both in Ferris Bueller and in the film WarGames which is getting a special 25 th anniversary showing on Thursday, July 24... Though filming for the ABC TV nighttime soap Dirty Sexy Money has been "on hold" since mid-June, word from Kristin today is that the show is moving in a "new direction " and will resume production by the end of this month... Season Two of DSM will start up this September with a new executive producer on board, Jon Feldman, whose teevee resume goes all the way back to The Wonder Years ... Creator Craig Wright says about Dirty Sexy Money ' s new direction,"This season it will become more evident then ever that in order to be a part of this family, it ' s going to cost you... The season premiere promises to bring an arresting development, a revelation that makes you wonder how well you know your spouse and a buried secret that resides just below the surface."... I ' d never considered a cruise to Hawaii but when I contemplate it and how easy it would be to stay on the boat and hit a couple of islands, coupled with so many cruise deals boy, that vacation looks nice!... It was my life long dream to go to Hawaii, Kauai specifically and I did three years ago but I have not yet seen Maui or much of Oahu or the Big Island... … View Post »
