Christmas 2008 is gone and soon we are approaching the end of 2008! Ever since my last post, it had been a nightmare trying to go online! Apparantly our Service Provider said it was a Submarine Cable Fault which will be completely restored by 31st December! 2008 of course! Till then just reluctant to go online for it takes ages to load a page!

Lucky for me that tonight the speed is a bit better and I take this opportunity to write my last post for the year! Christmas for us was a very very quiet affair and we hardly went out except for some groceries shopping. Although it was quiet but I was kept rather busy helping rock and my daughter fix a thousand and one things!

Being quiet, I did a bit of pondering over world events and other things. To me the outlook for 2009 is rather gloomy! While the world celebrated the recent Christmas with familiar songs like Joy to The World; Silent Night and so much about Peace, the world around us is very very far from Peaceful!

Israel and Palestine started fighting again.

India and Pakistan are getting troops aligned at the borders.

Tamil Tigers bombing in Ceylon.

Talk of Recession literally every where.

So what can one expect in 2009? Wars and Rumours of War? Earthquakes and Natural Disasters? Outlook is rather bleak! On a personal level I had been pondering on some encouraging Words I read somewhere and would like to share with you and perhaps help to keep our smiles in the year ahead!

Personal :-

Of all the things you wear, your expression is the most important.

The happiness of your life depends on the quality of your thoughts.

The heaviest thing you can carry is a grudge.

A sharp tongue can cut your own throat.

You lie the loudest when you lie to yourself.

One thing you can give and still keep...is your word.

Work :-

Your mind is like a parachute...it functions only when open.

If you lack the courage to start, you have already finished.

One thing you can't recycle is wasted time.

Ideas won't work unless ' You' do.

If you want your dreams to come true, you mustn't oversleep.

Friends :-

The best vitamin for making friends..... B1.

Friends are like balloons; once you let them go, you might not get them back. Sometimes we get so busy with our own lives and problems that we may not even notice that we've let them fly away. Sometimes we are so caught up in who's right and who's wrong that we forget what's right and wrong. Sometimes we just don't realize what real friendship means until it is too late.

I don't want to let that happen so I am going tie you to my heart so I never lose YOU. May You, my friends, have a Purposeful, Successful and Joyful Year ahead in 2009! Blessings to All!

Nearly a year ago I did a post titled 'Zip Bags' where I posted a video showing how easy it is to open a padlocked Zip Bag using just a Ball-point Pen! You can check it out here.

Today I discovered another shocking bit of information on 'How to open a Combination Lock'! Just watch the video below!

Hack Open A Lock!! - video powered by Metacafe

The whole point is not so much that your things got stolen but how about drug pushers slipped bags of drugs into your bag!!!!!
Copywriting is a much sought after topic on the Web. Every internet marketer will invariably have to learn something about this topic. To me copying Ancient Texts or Manuscripts requires even more attention for a missing 'letter' or 'word' can mean a totally different thing and cause years of hardships! :)

To illustrate the point I'll share an interesting story and also my way of apology for Missing in Action for a week! :)

A young monk arrives at the monastery. He is assigned to helping the other monks in copying the old canons and laws of the church by hand.

He notices, however, that all of the monks are copying from copies, not from the original manuscript. So, the new monk goes to the head abbot to question this, pointing out that if someone made even a small error in the first copy, it would never be picked up! In fact, that error would be continued in all of the subsequent copies.

The head monk, says, "We have been copying from the copies for centuries, but you make a good point, my son."

He goes down into the dark caves underneath the monastery where the original manuscripts are held as archives in a locked vault that hasn't been opened for hundreds of years. Hours go by and nobody sees the old abbot.

So, the young monk gets worried and goes down to look for him. He sees him banging his head against the wall and wailing,

"We missed the " R" ! , we missed the " R" !"

His forehead is all bloody and bruised and he is crying uncontrollably. The young monk asks the old abbot, "What's wrong, father?"

With A choking voice, the old abbot replies, "The word was...

I am totally floored by the kind gestures of my fellow blogger pal this November! I thought October was the highest number of Awards that were given to me but now A Great Pleasure broke that record! Thanks Jean for being so generous and such a great supporter of Listening, Learning, Living! Appreciate your lovely gesture! There were a few more Awards in this Extravaganza Award but some I have already received from other fellow blogger pals so I got to leave them.

Lately there were more food products such as biscuits, chocolates sold locally, were found to contain high levels of Melamine. I actually wondered about why manufacturers add Melamine into the food process knowing the health risks involved! Have you ever wondered? Mind you it seems Melamine is not cheap so it does not make economical sense.

Well, I received a 'report' originating from China explaining the Melamine Mystery over the recent Contaminated Milk from the China fiasco. According to this report; Melamine is not added into the milk at all! What the manufacturers in China did was to add another toxic compound known as 'Urea' into the milk!!!

Why Urea? It seems that adding cheap fertilizer compound like Urea increases the Protein Content in the milk! The way to test Protein Content is to measure the Nitrogen content level which the Urea produces in sufficient quantities!

What happens is that fresh milk is kept at ultra high temperatures (UHT) and when sprayed out to produce milk powder; the urea undergoes a chemical change into Melamine! That's how the Melamine content was discovered in the milk powder!

Sounds logical to me but I guess chemistry people will understand the process better! So folks, that's what I found out from this 'China Report'! Can anyone check the truth in this story? If you do please leave a comment here for the benefit of all!

The 'report' also mentioned the following:-

Best quality milk is used to produce Yogurt, High Calcium Milk.

Low quality milk used to produce breakfast milk!

Milk that has turned bad or 'smelly' is used to make ice-cream and cheap milk powder!

The rise of health consciousness among the general population creates a huge demand for healthy food. People tend to buy organic stuff as well as go natural meaning no addition of artificial elements into the creation process of such food. Even the use of chemical fertilizers are frowned upon.

However, what is natural does not necessarily mean that it is good for our bodies or safe. My father was a case in point. He was a diabetic and an adherent to the Chinese Herbal Medication. I guess more of upbringing than anything else. I do believe in our traditional Chinese Medicines but in the same breath I have got to say that we must be careful.

When my father was admitted to the hospital with kidney failure, the doctors told me about the traditional medicine he was taking all these while contain high content of mercury and lead which eventually lead to kidney failure!

I believe what I really want to say, without running down traditional herbal treatments is that many times we just do not know the dangerous elements in such medication. While it does help to treat our illnesses but at the same time contain poisonous elements that cause other problems too!

Nowadays, many people buy online for their supply of natural or organic supplements from all sorts of online stores. Many of these are just like you and I promoting affiliate products which we trust or believe are good and harmless! It seems that many such websites are being shut-down by health authorities in UK, Canada and the US for selling products that contain dangerous elements!

For this reason alone, I will never go into selling Vitamins, Organic or Natural Supplements online simply because I personally do not know what is behind these products and there is no way for me to find out. I gather some of the dangerous elements and I list here for your own caution!

Ephedrine - cause lead poisoning, cause high BP, even heart attack or stroke.

Aristolochia - linked to kidney failure, containing steroids, arsenic and mercury.

Fenluramine - poisonous to the liver and cause heart irregularities.

Other things such as Nutmegs, Fly Agaric Mushroom, San Pedro Cacti and Salvia, all contain the hallucinogen Mescaline which, in sufficient quantities can cause a range of psychiatric disturbances from anxiety to panic attacks to psychosis.

Just yesterday, I had a chat with my sis-in-law and she told me about this 30 year old graduate with a Doctorate Degree, and he is dying of cancer! He kept this from his mom who is residing overseas. My heart just wept for this bright young man with all his knowledge and training, just started working and now a death sentence and at such a young age!

I do wonder about the frequency of cancer and all sorts of strange illnesses happening to our younger people. We used to hear of old people dying and we felt quite natural but for young people to die, there is something seriously wrong out there! Yeah, blame the causes from life-styles, acquiring bad habits etc. etc. Have any of you wonder about the effects of strong electro-magnetic fields that can cause all sorts of illnesses? I mean electro-magnetic waves like microwave, high frequency radio waves, high voltage transmission lines waves emissions.........

I am sure you have read or heard about people protesting to the local telecommunication operators and power generating companies about the cancer causing effects of living near to such things. Although we were told many times that it is safe, yet results shown by studies made in foreign countries indicate some alarming results!

Below is a photo of how our human cells react to exposure to X-rays and cell-phone waves!

One day up and the next day down! following local bourses as the experts said.

Well, I discovered a bit of information which I guess will help to explain things a bit on how the Stock Market Works and hope that with understanding comes calm and peace of mind! Here is how what I discovered:-

It was autumn, and the Red Indians on the remote reservation asked their New Chief if the winter was going to be cold or mild. But also being a practical leader, after several days he got an idea. He went to the phone booth, called the National Weather Service and asked "Is the coming winter going to be cold?"

"It looks like this winter is going to be quite cold indeed," the meteorologist at the weather service responded. I am impressed by the real life story of this guy and to me this is one of the most inspiring stories in recent years.

This boy left school at the tender age of 13, with very little friends because of the constant changing environment and his social skills were terrible, frequently getting into fights. Having no particular skills, he worked in all sorts of jobs, from potato picking to making ice lollies to collecting boxes to working in newspapers to chopping up wood to working in the confectionary business.

By the time he is 60, he has made $20 Million! He built himself a multmillion dollar company, had 12 different offices with some of the best employees in the world. It was one of the best times in his life. Everything felt "right". Woke up every day with a smile, and was absolutely overjoyed to be alive.

In less than a year, each of his 12 offices was losing $20,000 a month. He tried desperately to sell off the offices... to find some kind of relief... but it just didn't happen. And in that one sentence, he lost it all. In the span of a few months, not only did he lose 12 offices... each one costing him circa $20,000 a month in losses ... but also lost a clean slate. It was the darkest and dismal period of his life and he was 65 years old with a debt of $4.5 Million to settle.

The trials were never-ending. At age 65, when most people would be retiring, he had to take another job and it wasn't just any kind of job. It was a commission-only job. That's right - starting at age 65, he still had no security whatsoever, not even a paltry base salary.

Starting all over again, and in 10 years when he reached 75, he not only paid off his $4.5 Million debt but also made himself another $20 Million! Thats not all, he suffered 6 strokes in 5 months and doctors said he would not be able to speak again! He overcame all odds and he recovered his speech. Wow! what an amazing story of true grit, determination and perseverance. He is known as the $20 Million Dollars Man and his name is Douglas Goodey. What an inspiring story! Thats him shown below:-
