Handmade Cloth Diapers

My sister Carol made samples of her cloth diapers so she can take photo of it and posted it in her blog. I got my version too and posted it in my flickr. There’s different sizes and different colors but I love this solid blue and yellow among others. If you wanna see other photos, it’s in my sidebar or just click on the photo so you will be directed to my flickr stream.

Help save the earth by reducing non-biodegradable waste such as disposable diapers. Go green and use CLOTH DIAPERS! You don’t only help save the environment but you will also save a lot of money in the long run.

My late maternal grandfather (Tatang) used to be a carpenter (aside from being a farmer after the world war) and I remember him when I saw this C-clamp among the numerous kinds of clamps in one industrial supply site. Feels like I am back to my childhood days when, together with my cousins, we used to play with the clamp that’s installed in a platform attached to the wall of my uncle’s house. We put something and start to rotate the handle until the thing in between the clamp is tightly pressed. Then we loosen it again. Tighten…loosen…tighten….loosen. That’s how we used to play with Tatang’s clamp. He also have another improvised clamp he’s using in making one part of a “kariton” (cart) but I can’t recall if it’s used to fix the wheel or whatever part of the cart. It’s only now that I knew that the thing we were playing with years ago is a CLAMP. I learned something today. :-)

For days, it’s been gloomy with scattered rainshowers (do I sound like a weather forecaster?LOL). I loathe this kind of weather especially that I cannot just snuggle under the sheets for the rest of the day. I have to keep going because work needs my time and pending tasks are almost drowning me. Ace, on the other hand is determined to go to work despite of the weather that’s been tempting him to stay at home and sleep.

I should be thankful for the cold weather because we could opt not to use the a/c at night. So that’s a couple of kilowatt/hr less in our electricity consumption. We actually tried it the other night. But we end up restless because it’s too cold with the windows open and it’s too hot when we close it. Hence, Ace decided to use the a/c last night though it’s already cold outside. At least we could regulate the coldness that we want by adjusting the temperature up so we won’t be shivering despite of the micro fiber blanket that we have that serves like a heated blanket. Unlike the comforters, the microfiber blanket doesn’t absorb cold so we remain comfy even if the room is chilly.

Baby Announcements

Isn’t it so exciting to hand out Photo Announcing Baby cards to family and friends? For me, it is and I am dreaming to give out photo birth announcement soon. I am seeing myself busy looking around for  birth announcement cards upon knowing that I am pregnant. Gladly I chanced upon http://www.birth-cards.com, an online store for baby birth announcements where you can add a photo, picture or logo to any card on their site to make sure that the birth announcement cards are personalized.

But hey I am a great procastinator, right? No matter how early I start preparing for a thing, I am pretty sure I will end up rushing until the 11th hour so Birth-Cards is just right for me because they print and ship your order the SAME DAY it is approved. Still, no worries for procastinators like me. :-)

I am not so picky with the water that I drink. I can drink from the well or directly from the faucet because that is what I’m used to. Not unless I have been warned that water coming from the faucet is not safe for drinking. My tummy is immune to that kind of water so why worry? Ace on the other hand adapted well to that so he’s also not picky with the kind of water we’re drinking. I’ve been drinking water directly from the faucet for so long and so I don’t find any reason why we’re going to buy those bottled water for our daily consumption. I know for sure Davao City’s water is one of the best so we keep on drinking from the faucet while the rest are buying mineral water. However, what worries me is the water pipes that’s been installed years ago and still being used to bring water to each water district’s concessionaire. With the source of the water, I don’t have an issue, but with the pipes, I am not sure if it’s still safe. But since we’re not getting sick due to the water coming from our faucet, guess it’s still safe to drink it. And if not, I would rather buy water filters I saw in one of the hardwares we’ve been frequenting. With the filter, I guess the water will retain its original taste unlike the mineral water (that lost the “sweet” taste of Davao’s water).

I can’t remember when was the last time I bought a RED top. It’s not actually my fave color for an item of clothing but I don’t know why it seems I am changing preference lately. I found RED attractive now. So I never had second thoughts about getting that RED knitted top from LOALDE (my dream brand for soooo long).

This is my entry for Ruby Tuesday, a RED-themed photo meme hosted by Teacher Mary. Visit her blog for more entries.

Yeba! I already placed my order of the 2010 Belle de Jour Power Planner. We’ve been to National Bookstore in Gaisano Mall earlier this evening but the sales people there aren’t aware of that Belle de Jour Power Planner. It seems like, they never heard about it. Then we went up to Watson’s and I got the same reply. Huh? How come? I’ve read somewhere that Belle de Jour 2010 Power Planner will also be available in those stores. Oh well, I might have read it wrong. I placed my order online anyway so I am only waiting for the confirmation of my order with the bank details where to deposit my payment. Hope I could avail of that 5% discount for joining the BDJ Circle.

I’m so excited to get my hands on that planner! Let us see if something will really change in my time management skills using that planner.haha!

If you wanna place your order, visit Belle de Jour’s website.

After posting about the mirror thing, we finally got one last Sunday. Yay! We went to Handyman for that purpose and for the dog’s plastic mats but we decided not to buy the mats. Maybe next time we could get those so Puto, Maya and Thirdie could comfortably sleep on it. We placed the big mirror in an area where one could take a peek at himself or herself before heading out of the house. Since we are used to have only one small mirror in our bedroom, we usually find ourselves using it instead of the big mirror and then we will be laughing when we remember there’s a big mirror outside our room!hahaha. I just realized I miss looking at myself in the mirror. Not only my face but from head to foot and so with everybody in the house. Now I won’t be asking Che2x to hold the small mirror for me when I wanted to look at my footwear or how my pants fit.LOL. Guess what now? I am spending time in front of the mirror just staring at my face and there I noticed the dark circles under eyes should I say “under my eyes” and eyebags. Oh no, I need to do something about it. My eyebags are inborn actually (hahaha) but the dark circles are due to lack of sleep. Since I can’t sleep early at night, I should have something to conceal that dark circles. Time to buy a concealer or eye cream? Why not!

Would you believe me when I say we don’t have a decent mirror here at home? We only have one vanity mirror that was included in my starter kit from Mary Kay. Thus we cannot see our whole body in front of the mirror…just our faces!*lol*. That’s how poor we are…we cannot afford to buy a bigger mirror. Actually, we’re planning to get one…it’s been months actually. But every time we’re at the mall to find a mirror, we always lost track. I dunno why we cannot push ourselves to buy a decent one. Maybe because I don’t go out often and I am contented fixing my face in front of a small mirror. So when I tried on some clothes at the mall and have seen myself – my whole body – in front of a life-size mirror, I was stunned saying “that’s how I look now?”. I can’t believe all the bulges. I can see the bulges with my bare eyes but I haven’t seen it in front of a mirror! So with my eyes. I am not staring at my face for so long if I am in front of our cute mirror so when I saw my face up close at the bathroom mirror in my hotel room in Cebu City last week, I am convinced that I need an under eye cream for my eyebags are now bigger than before and under eye has become darker. That’s what I get from staying up late! Anyway, for the meantime I will resort to cucumber and teabags as a home remedy.
