Ok, here is my one REAL resolution for 2009:

WORK OUT REGULARLY AND LOSE THE FLAB. Eesh.

113 Words : Posted 12.30.08

They are more a few things I need to do in 2009.

  • Get wedding dress cleaned and ready for sale.

  • Hang more pictures.

  • Take more photos.

  • Pass that bloody ancient and medieval history exam.

  • Read at least 25 non-curriculum books.

  • Tell people I love them more often. Aww.

  • Laugh more.

  • Eat fruit at least once a day.

  • Go to the gym at least once a week.

  • Learn a new skill.

  • Start carrying around a notebook to write down things to do, remember etc.

There’s probably more, but I shouldn’t make it too overwhelming. I’ll have a hard enough time taking care of that list as it is.

…while I work on the “bigger” Christmas posts. They’re on hold because I need to take some photos, and to do that I need to get off my butt and get my camera, and really, that’s just not going to happen just yet.

Sorry, I’m lazy, and that laziness expands during holidays.

On Monday, we’re probably going into town again to exchange gifts that didn’t quite fit (all mine are good, I think), and I’m going to look for some movies that were on my list but that I didn’t get, such as Prince Caspian and Wall-E. We might check out some dog supplies as well, as the lovely little critter has demolished the new toy I got her, and chewed through her leash.

Other than that, I’m doing quite a bit of reading, and it’s great. I love not having to read curriculum books, yet not feeling guilty. Ok, so I was supposed to bring my books on administration law so that I could finish at least one of the assignments, but I forgot. Really, I forgot. Not on purpose. REALLY.

After 9 hours on a train and 5 hours on a bus, we finally arrived at the bus station where our mom waited to pick us up (we being me and my brother). Huzzah!

Home is good. Very good, in fact. Hera has grown huge (pictures to follow). I’m sharing a room with my mom, which is also awesome (although perhaps not as awesome as a vegas hotel?). I got a sleeping mask on the train, and I wear that now so that I won’t “see” things in the shadows of the room and thus make my mom up with insane babbling, and it makes me sleep like a rock.

We spent the day in the city today to do some shopping (we now being me and my mom), and I only ran into two people I know. Kind of sad, really, that I know so few people here now.

I managed to spend close to no money at all. I only bought new stockings for myself (because I forgot to bring a pair, and I’d rather not wear thick pantyhose with my Christmas dress), and a chew toy for Hera so that she might leave me alone for a while.

Tonight I watched Mamma Mia with my mom, and it was just as good as last time. Now, I’m off to bed - we’re going into the city again tomorrow to do even more last minute shopping, and to visit the cemetery to put candles and wreaths on my grandparents’ graves.

And that concludes my utterly boring post. Huzzah! once more.

For I am now on Christmas vacation! Huzzah! Can you hear the angels? Cause I sure can!

Also, while walking from the ATM machine back to my office, I realised WHY I failed that exam. Yeah. It’s not that I’m stupid, it’s the assignment, or rather, the wording of it. It was BEGGING for a misunderstanding. So, as such, I will not really accept the fail. I am sending in my demand for a re-grade (we have the right to have our exam re-graded, no matter the grade (although obviously it’s not really recommended to ask for a re-grade on a B exam paper, cause the new grade can go both ways - I’ve seen people drop from B to D.).).

(Are you supposed to put full stops inside parenthesis like that? It looks weird when they’re layered like that.)

Also, I went to get new earbuds, and because I know someone who works at the electronics shop, I got to use her friends discount, and instead of NOK 600, they cost me NOK 380, and that was including a set of 50 gift tags! Happy! Now I just need to finish that playlist…

Breathe, breathe.

I am so sorry about that last post. Or actually, I’m not, because it felt damn good to write it all out and let the world know that I have failed. It will not happen again.

(Or it might, but, you know, POSITIVE THINKING.)

Now, I’m calming down before bedtime with some lovely, lovely music that I thought I might share with you lovely, lovely people:

Now, the list of things I need to do BEFORE SATURDAY NIGHT:

  • Get hair cut (tomorrow after work, it’s a done deal).

  • Finish new playlist in iTunes (named “the best playlist EVER - December).

  • Bake spicy Christmas cake - one for us, one for my grandmother.

  • Finish up lots of stuff at work - clear away papers so that my office furniture is at all visible, for one.

  • Charge iPod and DS.

  • Make lists of what to pack in suitcase and what to pack in carryon.

  • Wrap Christmas gifts!

  • Send those very late Christmas gifts.

  • Take photos of new kitchen/dining area to show my parents.

  • Buy last minute extra Christmas gift for my mom.

  • Get stuff for Tor’s stocking.

  • Go to electronics store and buy new headphones/earbuds since my awesome ones have died on me. :(

Wow, that’s quite a bit. Not so calming, actually.

Ok, yeah. That D? It’s looking pretty nice now.

I went to check the grade lists for my other exam, you know, the OTHER exam that ALSO includes Roman history. And what do I see next to my student number? A big, fat F.

Yeah, I know. What?? FAILED? But I never fail! NEVER.

This is really upsetting me. I’m not used to failing. Not at all. This is the second time this exam has taken a swing at me and hit me full on the nose, knocking me down. The first time I was ok with it, I had had a rough time in the month before the exam, thus I hadn’t been able to study much at all. But this time, I was PREPARED. Or at least I thought so. Sure, I hadn’t studied as much as I would have liked (because I had to work two jobs for a while to make ends meet), but still. Fail?? I am so disappointed in me right now. And in YOU, WORLD. How could you do this to me? You know I am in a fragile state of mind these days, YOU SHOULD KNOW BETTER THAN TO THROW THIS SHIT AT ME.

I got a D on my exam in Ancient Roman history. I hadn’t really expected it to be any better than that, but still, I’d harboured a little hope of maybe at least a C. The thing is, to be accepted into the master’s program (which is way, way in the future still), I need an average of at least C. So far I have two Bs, that can more or less neutralise the D, but if I get MORE Ds, then I might be in trouble.

Now I just have to cross all crossable appendages that I did better on the other exam - I am a little worried that I messed up when it came to choosing the three “new empires”. I should know tomorrow. Good vibrations happily accepted, please and thank you.

The soundtrack! Have you listened to the soundtrack? Even if you didn’t particularly appreciate the movie, the soundtrack is awesome even without its movie. Seriously. Awesome.

Some of my favourite tracks:

  • Flightless Bird, American Mouth by Iron & Wine

  • Eyes on Fire by Blue Foundation

  • Leave Out All The Rest by Linkin Park

  • Bella’s Lullaby by Carter Burwell

And, of course, Supermassive Black Hole by Muse, but that was awesome long before Twilight came into my life.

I was looking through some photos, and I remembered one more tiny little thing about Twilight that I need to mention:

Carlisle. SO SCARY. With his skin. Eeek. I think they might have overdone the white makeup on him.

Other than that, and what I previously mentioned about the Cullen house and the vampire sparklies, I still love the movie to pieces, and I can’t wait to see it again! I even got Tor to admit to liking it, even though the ratio between romance and vampire kickass was definitely in romance’s favour. Win!
