Today, I just send them to their respective classes; get them seated then I left. I did not linger around like other parents, I went home! I sent Clarissa to her class first, get her the cats. Then accompanied Belle to her class. Before I left I took a peep into Clarissa’s class to see that she is happily playing the cats with the girl sitting next to her; the same girl that played with her at the playground.
I know my Clarissa can make friends very fast because she is very friendly and smile most of the time.
As for Belle, she has been to kindy for 2 years already. She can adapt but not in making new friends as fast as Clarissa because she is very shy, very quiet and very serious looking.
After school Belle asked me,”Why all my friends like Clarissa and smile to her?” So I told Belle that she needs to smile and not be so shy and unfriendly but I doubt she can do that because that’s just not her personality.
She reminds me of myself! I was very quite, shy and serious looking when I was in school. I don’t have many friends because I wait for others to approach me and talk to me first. I will never make the first move in making friends. I am still the same now!
How to teach Belle make friends since I myself don’t know how to?
Seeing his sisters attending kindy, he kept telling me that he is not a baby and he wants to go to school. Well, you have to wait for another 2 years, Barnabas. Your coming brother/sister needs someone to play with at home.
So I brought him along to fetch his sisters home and he got a glimpse of what kindy is all about; playing!

Here are a few shots of the St. Mary’s compound which compromises of a church, Catholic cemetery, a primary school, a kindergarten and an old chapel.
Catholic Church, Cemetery, Primary School Office Building and a field.
Kindergarten; 3 classrooms only for 4yo, 5yo and 6yo each.
An old Chapel.
Belle said this chapel looks like princess castle.
This is because there are many new student in 5yo class so this whole week is all play and no formal learning. School ends at 10.30am for this whole week; meaning, only 2 hours of kindy.
First thing she did was grab a bucket filled with miniature toy cats. Clarissa loves cat!
While she was playing, I wanted to test the water and left her to go to my car to grab a bite and a gulp of water; I was very hungry! No time for breakfast before sending them to school. My girls don’t take breakfast too. She allowed me because I promised me that it will only be for a lil while.
When I came back, I heard a boy was wailing on the floor. The moment Clarissa saw me, she grabbed hold of my hand very tightly and told me not to leave her.
So I played the play dough with her.
I wanted to see how Belle was doing but Clarissa still doesn’t want to let me go. Then I asked her permission whether I can go to the toilet; she nodded and released me. That was the time I managed to take a few pictures of Belle from her class’ window and door.
I returned and this time I was really hungry; my “bite” earlier was just one rolled pineapple tart which is not sufficient. So I told Clarissa that I need to go home for a lil while to fetch Barnabas to see how brave she is to be all by herself in kindy. She allowed me.
I left her at 9am.
I came back at 10am with Barnabas and saw her playing at the playground. She saw me and told me that she has eaten Fried BeeHoon and told me to come play with her at the playground.
So happy playing with her classmate. She is the girl that is seated in between us.
Tomorrow will only be, send and bye-bye from me.
They slept late the night before but amazing with just one wake up call, both of them got up without making any fuss. They did nap for more than 2 hours yesterday so they can’t sleep by 10pm.
Very happy in their new school uniform and can’t wait to go to school.
In her classroom.
We arrived school at 8.30am and most children are seated. Managed to get Belle a seat in between 2 Chinese girls. Belle wanted to sit with them again tomorrow. I hope I can remember their faces!
At the playground.
I am sure my girls will be more tan this year because the school playground is outdoor. Recess time is at 10am and playtime is right after they finishes their tea-break. Today, they were served with Fried BeeHoon.
In Clarissa’s class.
Belle complaints that her class has no toys and she wants to go back to 5yo class!
This girl of mine is so perfectionist. Today they were told to tear a picture of an apple from their activity book instead of cutting it using scissors. Belle complaints that the apple does not turn out nice with just tearing and didn’t want to go to the kindy tomorrow unless I talk to her class teacher to use scissors next time around!
It is nice to see that both my girls wake up easily and cheerful for these 2 days. I hope this will be the scenario for as long as possible. I really hate it when they woke up cranky and not wanting to go to school. I hate forcing them to do things that they don’t like. If they have finished their secondary education and not wanting to go school, there is always online university degree which they can study from home. As for now, I want them to socialize with other children and we still can’t afford to homeschool them. Furthermore, I don’t think I have the patience to teach them at home!
