What was the most unusual (for you) book you ever read?... Either because the book itself was completely from out in left field somewhere, or was a genre you never read, or was the only book available on a long flight whatever?... What (not counting school textbooks, though literature read for classes counts) was furthest outside your usual comfort zone/familiar territory?... When I read this week s question there was only one book that came to mind, Running with Scissors by Augusten Burroughs... But first and foremost was the thought that I couldn t believe there really were people like that out there and how grateful I was to my mother... First, the good news... I havent received any phone calls intended for the other Joanna in quite some time now... This pleases me to no end as there is nothing quite as annoying as getting people calling you at all hours of the day demanding your time and money and you know you have never used or even plan to use their services... You may recall, back in January, that I mentioned how my uncle had seemingly cut me out of his life for no apparent reason and was basically throwing a temper tantrum unbecoming someone his age?... I think I have a reason to be miffed with the man right now... On top of this, my mother has been trying to persuade me to just forgive and forget, and that when he talks to me again, to not demand an apology and put it behind us all... Besides, its kind of hard to imagine the voice message offending him that badly considering the fact that he himself likes to rile people up and is merciless when he finds something to tease you over... We even share the same opinion why the hell did it take so long for the Hokage to deal with the Uchiha?! ... Sasuke left, tried to kill a teammate, and joined with a known traitor... Thus far, I m thinking everyone in Kumo spends their time lifting weights... Gaara is a young kage still, so him not putting these things into motion is understandable, I guess... It s because the shinobi world is so fractured and none of the leaders are willing to share information with their allies that an organization like Akatsuki was even able to survive let alone thrive... I mean, for crying out loud, we now know Madara was at one point the Mizukage!... I want to see him and Pein go head to head... This week s Booking Through Thursday question is: Autumn is starting (here in the US, anyway), and kids are heading back to schooldoes the changing season change your reading habits?... Are you just in the mood for different kinds of books than you were over the summer?... My late night job at Athletics allowed me time to study, but usually by that time of the day I was exhausted so I preferred to read for pleasure rather than academic reading... It was too small a time frame to really get any productive studying done, especially if I had to walk across campus to get to my next class (no need for diet pills !)... So for the most part, autumn means less reading time... This year is shaping out to be different in that regard, not that it s necessarily a good thing since I would like to be working right now... Well they called again, and this time stayed on the phone long enough for me to actually answer it, and I explained [again!]... my situation and what I had told the woman who had called me a few days back... Get this, apparently she conveniently forgot to note that not only did I explain why I hadn t been able to make a fully payment, but that I had said I would make a payment this week and finish paying the rest after that... She apologized for the continuous calls that had been unnecessary and her fellow associate s behavior and stated that she was marking it down to take me off the list to be called...
