Homosexuality has had a sometimes turbulent history in Tasmania, but today, tolerance is expressed through the fact that Tasmania has the world's best relationship laws, and A PROACTIVE lesbian and gay tourism task force.

Many of Tasmania's tourism operators have taken part in workshops on sexual diversity. They recognise that, just like all other visitors, gay and lesbian travellers want an enjoyable and memorable holiday and want to feel genuinely welcome and accepted wherever they go in the state.

Tasmania does not have the population to support a big gay and lesbian 'scene', but the community is very active. There is a range of nightspots in Hobart and Launceston, and most operate on selected evenings.

Over in South America, Punta del Este in Uruguay is the current #1 emerging gay vacation hot spot.

Hailed as the “Switzerland of the Americas”, the once undiscovered Uruguay is now a popular tourist destination.
GAY TIMES UK reports that Punta can be a conservative place. It attracts families in the high season (December-March) and while most resorts and hotels are gay-friendly, public displays will almost certainly elicit curious stares. However, head to the gay beach, Chihuahua, and there are no limits.

Located a few miles from the centre of town, Chihuahua boasts miles of fine sand and beautiful freshwater lagoons, and attracts thousands of sun-worshippers during its short summer season. After 3pm, however, the crowds are less intense and the heat less oppressive – although some claim it has the freshest air in the world – and you’ll almost certainly be treated to one of its amazingly photogenic sunsets.

According to Carlos Melia, owner of the Buenos Aires-based gay travel agency, Pride Travel, Punta del Este “is becoming more popular as a gay destination because it’s the only beach resort in the southern part of the continent suitable for a gay crowd.

How cool!

NOT!

Common sense told me that international roaming rates would be outrageous - so I barely made any calls. Only 2. To my mother and my mother in law! Roughly $2.30 per minute. A 15 minute call was $35! Ouch! I should have sent postcards!

I guess I am naive...or stupid...I really didn't think about roaming charges being applied to texts and that data usage could be an issue.

The iPhone, with all it's delicious apps and bells and whistles - SUCKS DATA. Most domestic plans here in the US have unlimited data, so few users, like me, bother to track the amount I send and receive. Shame on me.

When you travel to a foreign country, AT & T offers a pricey a la carte menu which is almost impossible for the simple mind like mine, to decipher. I don't know how many bytes of this and that I am going to need to read emails! How is that even calculated? I flunked Algebra!

And every country has different rates. I was told I should have gotten a $24.99 Global Add-On plan, which would have given me 20 megabytes of data at $1.25 per megabyte - instead of the nearly $20 PER MEGABYTE they charged me!

So, fast forward, I get home to a bill for $600. My bill is normally $100.

I found out, the hard way, there are some steps you can take to maintain some of the luxuries of the iPhone without getting slapped with a HUGE bill.

I discovered it's best to SHUT OFF your DATA ROAMING, under Settings, General, and Network. And also , in your email settings, turn off the FETCH option, so you don't automatically download new emails randomly, as they pour into your in box.

If you go somewhere that has FREE WI-FI - like some hotel lobbies, you can check your emails there, without the hefty AT&T international charges. Just make sure you can connect to WI-FI network. This way you can avoid many data charges. Be selective when and where you want to check emails.

AT & T has a few options for traveling abroad, depending on where you are going. Be aware most come with a discount for your calls but also a 3 month minimum. AT & T claims you have to pay for 3 months to make sure that can catch all of the calls. Yeah, right.

It's also a good idea to reset your usage statistics when you travel, so you can track how close you are to your limits. This is under Settings, then General, then Usage.

AT & T is changing the game all the time. Check with them BEFORE you leave town!

NEW GAY TRAVEL GUIDE

gay apps i phone iphone international travel international data roaming gay travel abroad free wi fi grindr Tag generator

Due to its location in the eastern Pyrenees mountain range, Andorra consists predominantly of rugged mountains of an average height of 1,996 metres (6,549 ft) with the highest being the Coma Pedrosa at 2,946 metres (9,665 ft).

These are dissected by three narrow valleys in a Y shape that combine into one as the main stream, the Valira river, leaves the country for Spain (at Andorra's lowest point of 870 m/2,854 ft). Jim and Barbara Stovall purchased the home in 1981. They planned to build condominiums in its place, even hiring an architect to help with the design. But on the eve of the scheduled demolition, Barbara told her husband that she couldn't bear the thought of the home being destroyed. New plans were then drawn up, almost immediately, for the restoration of the home as "Thee White House Restaurant," which opened on New Year’s Eve of 1981.

This will be a very exciting and most probably the richest pageant of its kind in the country.

The CEO, Mr. Cor Jansen van Rensburg, an MBA-graduate who is based in London, said that the company is looking for a candidate who does not only possess beauty on the outside, but also from within. A gay man of impeccable character, taste and style – and of course – a temple of a body to house these admirable qualities. A candidate of whom the LGBTI community – in all it’s diversity – can be proud of.

The other directors of the company are Juan C. Lerm, well-known in the gay community for launching and organising the annual Pink Loerie Mardi Gras in Knysna and Coenie Kukkuk, Pretoria-based attorney and editor of online magazine, Gayspeak.

Juan as Director of Operations is heading up all operations for the competition including the regional finals, the sponsors, the candidates and of course, the glamorous final event at a very upmarket venue in Gauteng. Details will be announced closer to the event. The final is planned to be before Christmas of this year. Mr Kukkuk is responsible for the media and legal division. The three directors bring many years of experience of events in the gay community to the table.

Candidates who want to enter, can do so online. The first three regional finalists for the Eastern Cape were chosen during the Pink Loerie Mardi Gras. The three outstanding candidates, Chris Macgregor, Tyrone Nell and Leo Jan De Beer, qualified for the final by virtue of their achievement in Mr Mardi Gras. The rest of the regional competitions will be announced soon – keep an eye on the website!

1. Gays must only travel with designer luggage and a lot of it. You have a name to live up to! Also a man bag is a must!

2. Cocktail hour is every hour when traveling abroad, actually in the gay world cocktail hour is every hour anyway so no changes there.

3. A spray tan and a mankini is a must when traveling to Mykonos, Greece

4. One queen at a time in the bathroom cubicle. You don’t want to attract unnecessary attention from the cabin crew.

5. Be sure to upgrade your iPod with Whitney’s latest album.

6. For your bags - and I’m not talking luggage, I am talking the bags under your eyes, bitches! - try my new product PAMAROID crème. It’s a hemorrhoid crème and yes, it’s a real eye opener! Beyonce and Chelsea Handler swear by it.

7. Avoid Ketamin when traveling. I can’t tell you how many times I have caught queens standing, mouth open, tongue out, watching the bags at the carousel for days. It’s shameful.

8. If you are a gay couple going on a gay Atlantis cruise, decide on land if you are going to allow 3 or 4 ways! And whether you have to be with your partner when you do so! Work out the rules before you have an all out argument at immigration.

9. Remember to pack some good hardcore porn and some musicals – you’re gay after all!

10. Always pack Mardi Gras beads. They fit nicely in your bum.

Fasten your seat belt, stow your designer luggage and prepare for the flight of your life as Pam Ann’s hilarious one-woman comedy show flies into a city near you. No women with perms or men with Arsenio Hall fade cuts allowed.

And recently decided it was time to host a gay weekend of events.

Harrah's has been catering to gay and lesbian travelers at its Las Vegas casinos for a few years, and launched a similar campaign in the country's second-largest gambling market with an "Out in Atlantic City" - OUT IN AC - weekend of partying Sept. 25-27.

The event, which attracted nearly 1,000 people, brought some of the best-known names in the gay and lesbian entertainment scene to the Harrah's casinos. Lesbian and Gay travelers came in from New York City, Philadelphia, Boston, Washington DC, Baltimore, Chicago, and surrounding New Jersey cities.

Not just be "gay-friendly".

OUT in ATLANTIC CITY was the first weekend-long celebration specifically tailored for the LGBT community of Atlantic City and environs. And guess what? It was a SUCCESS.

And everyone we talked to, most who lived within 2 hours of Atlantic City, all said they would come here even more often, if there was more gay parties or events going on. "Even if a casino would make a gay club night, we'd drive in more often," said Gregg and his 2 friends from New York City.

Harrah's Entertainment owns four of the major players in town; Harrah’s, Showboat, Bally’s, and Caesars. And the OUT IN AC weekend showcased parties at each venue. Club Worship at House of Blues at Showboat hosted the Amanda Lepore (American Transsexual Icon) and Cazwell Catwalk Party. Cazwell has become the premier gay rapper and Amanda has long been celebrity nightlife queen, model, and now singer (thank you Cazwell!) Cazwell rapped about stuff All Over His Face and seeing Beyonce At Burger King, while Amanda pranced and showed off her Jessica Rabbit body while signing about Champagne , Cotton Candy and stripping down, nearly nude, during I Know What Boys Like. FYI - Both the Cazwell and the Amanda Lepore new CD's are out this month!

During our OUT IN AC - LGBT Weekend we also got to experience the Foundation Room, at House of Blues / Showboat. WOW! Dinner was 5 star, amazing here! Members enjoy benefits and privileges at all locations: Los Angeles, Chicago, Las Vegas, New Orleans, Cleveland, Atlantic City, Dallas, Houston, and Boston. Exclusive membership here brings the ultimate VIP lifestyle to your fingertips with VIP concert seating, elegant dining, discounted hotel rooms and other rocking perks at House of Blues locations across the country. - After dnner, the cast of THE L WORD was on hand, with a huge lesbian crowd, to mix and mingle and do a Q & A with the audience.

The main party, and the biggest, was Decadence at Caesar's. Gorgeous Go-Go Gods kept the crowd dancing from their perched pedestals above the flashing LED dance floor. Lance Bass introduced Jai Rogriguez who DJ'd the evening as well as performed his hit "Broken". Edge, Boston, summed it up best - "This was the party of the weekend, the Saturday night blowout, the party that announced that the OUT in AC weekend was a contender-and not going away. OUT in AC was here to stay-this year, and next year, and year after next."

And just when we thought the OUT IN AC weekend was about done, we dragged ourselves out of bed Sunday morning for the Gay Bingo ReHab Brunch with Coco Peru and local diva Lady Eve, which benefitted the South Jersey AIDS Alliance.

Perhaps the sentiment of the weekend was best expressed by Lady Eve who, at each event, reminded the crowd of nearly 1,000 revelers that the reason that OUT in AC was a resounding success was because of them. As she said, the LGBT community has been there all along; all we needed was to be acknowledged, at last.

And by weekend’s end, there was no question that OUT in AC had put Atlantic City back on the LGBT vacation map. We had the chance to talk to various people within the Harrah's Entertainment hierarchy, and talk about possible plans for 2010. They will quite possibly include SEVERAL gay weekends throughout the year, including a huge summertime beach party, special gay event nights and a club, dedicated to the LGBT community!

We will keep you posted as these exciting changes take place.

New Gay Travel Guide

Best of Gay New York

Best Gay Cities

gay atlantic city out in ac harrahs caesars cazwell amanda lepore Free tag generator
