I’m sure that a few people here and there have ridden their bikes a million miles. I am not one of them; my butt is not made of steel. Nevertheless, this is not a problem to Harley-Davidson, which is running its second annual Million Mile Monday on June 29th.
If you’re into Harleys, you can join HOG here and take part. The odometer will be updated at the Harley-Davidson site as well as the HOG member site.
Last year the Owners Group members rode three million miles. This year they’re shooting for five million. So on 29th June, if you see a Harley, wave.
In fact, if you see any biker at all, wave. :)
27 February 2009: The flat start of the climb to Altamont Pass.
27 February 2009: We’re passing Fremont, leaving the Bay Area. That’s Altamont Pass in the distance, with its hedgehog-prickles of windmills.
27 February 2009: In Santa Clara, the traffic is not too heavy. The biker can use the HOV lane without issue, while we sit in the slow lane, being passed. ;)
21 February 2009: Down in SLO, I met my friend for coffee and tourism. Several bicycles were parked outside the coffee shop, and then there was a Harley, tucked away on the street. Even better? The shop across the street is Davidson’s. ;)
21 February 2009: These riders start to turn towards the coast as we lumber through Pismo Beach. It’s not a great day for riding: Foggy, rather gray and cold.
Oh, what am I talking about. Of course it’s a great day for riding. Pish! ;)
21 February 2009: At Pismo Beach, about half a dozen RV parking locations are complemented by an RV store. But it was the bikes outside it that caught my attention more!
20 February 2009: After Lompox, highway 1 snakes inland quite a way. That doesn’t stop it being a very fun ride for a motorcyclist. Oh no, indeed it does not. ;)
February 2009: By this stage in the trip, my mind’s as blurry as this picture, and I don’t have any idea where this was taken.
February 2009: Two trucks carrying a cargo of motorcycles swing on by. Maybe they’re heading towards adventure…
