We deployed some updates to the site today.  Here’s the rundown:

Premium & Staff-pick Blogs
Advertisers have the ability to target the best blogs in our system with the premium & staff pick targeting options when they create an opportunity.  Up until now the identification of premium & mid-tier blogs has been done manually by our review team.  Starting today we will automatically mark your blog as a premium if it has more than 80,000 average monthly visitors.  We will mark it as a staff-pick if it has 30,000 – 79,999 average monthly visitors.  You will receive a congratulatory email notification if your blog falls into one of these categories.  It’s our little way of saying “You are awesome and we noticed!”.  It will also lead to more advertising opportunities from our advertisers.  Notifications have already been sent out today if you have been included in either of these categories.  From here on out this will happen automatically every Sunday.

Leads Navigation
Advertisers:  The leads page used to kick you out to the first page of results after you clicked the “send offers” button.  Now this will keep you in the same position within the list where you were browsing before you sent the offers.  We hope it increases your efficiency and ease of navigation.

    What if you should fit into one of these categories but didn't get an email? What service are you using to monitor traffic (they seem to vary a lot)? And how many months are you going back to determine an average? Thanks!

    Thank you! We are excited!

    I am not so happy with that; the pickings sure are getting slim for those who try to maintain a blog and don't have that much traffic. Opps are already down to the minimum.

    @Kendra,
    We use Google Analytics to determine the traffic levels in SocialSpark. That being said, a it's a really good idea to enable Google Analytics in your SocialSpark account so we can pull accurate traffic numbers and display your blog properly to Advertisers.

    @Corry,
    We were already marking these accounts as Premium or Mid Tier in the past, we just had to manually keep track of this data. Additionally, bloggers were never notified when they were marked this way. The only thing that really changed was this process is now automated.

    No worries though, Advertisers aren't always looking for the highest traffic blogs - there are MANY other factors in place when Advertisers choose publishers. Just keep up the good work and respond to all your leads to give yourself the best chances to get more Opps.

    Will this be a rolling occurrence, where a blog will be added once it reaches those statistics?

    @Chris,
    Yes, this will be an ongoing process :)

    @SPHSGR,
    Welcome to SocialSpark! We're happy to have you!

    I would definitely open a ticket about your question regarding Google Analytics. Our support team will be better able to assist you via a ticket. Additionally, they should be able to answer your question regarding the lead.

    So am I going to get an email about this every week now (already had two!)? It's good news for you guys that it's now automated, but if my blog was already manually marked as premium based on it's traffic (and I don't get any offers on it any more) then this change doesn't affect me at all so I see no reason/need to get an email every time your system does the check.

    kind of rough for us smaller blogs just starting out

  12. Crystal said on 6.6.11 at 7:32 pm

    @RealityTVFan,

    That's a great suggestion - our team is working on updating those emails to only go out if your blog's Tier level status changes.

    It's not in there yet, but we're working on it. For now, you might still get a couple emails, but that should change soon.

    Thanks!
